In my ever lasting journey to better myself as a writer and blogger I took a trip to some book stores to find a book on writing, and holy crap, there are a lot of books on writing. It took me quite a while to pick through only about 80% of the books, and 50% of those books were about how to get your stuff published, which I don’t need right now. The rest of the books looked great, but while I was at a bargain bookstore one caught my eye more than the rest, mainly because it had a whole section on inspiration, and how to deal with writers block. As many of you know I get writers block quite a bit, the good thing is that this book told me that in my case I never have writers block… I didn’t get it at first either. As a blogger with a personal blog I can write about anything and everything. Things happen to me everyday, things have happened to me in the past, my life is full of stories and ideas. The only thing that I need to do is find a way for me to relate these stories to you as the reader, that’s the hard part. Sure things happen to me, I wake up everyday, I go to work, I eat, I sleep, but so do you. I’m sure you don’t want to hear about that piece of lettuce I had stuck in my teeth, so what do I write about? I will have to practice at this one I guess. I look at Ben who can make even showering interesting, or Shawn who can get you engrossed in a post about drinking a cup of coffee. I envy these people, and my new goal is to be like them and write a post on tying my shoelaces that will have everyone be so moved by it that they are brought to tears and I end up winning an award which lands my face on the cover of Time magazine for the person of the year, oh wait I already was on the cover, never mind I will be on the cover of GQ.

It is funny that you have written about this as I am currently experiencing exactly the same thing… I have had the “Create New Post” area open for around 4-5 hours now just ready for me to enter my entry but nothing is happening…
I couldn’t agree more when it comes to Ben and Shawn. I suppose some people are just gifted in that way aren’t they.
Great minds think alike, or in this case stop thinking
Haha! Actually, as I am typing, I am in the middle of typing a new entry. Something just came to me, perhaps a bit boring but nevertheless, it is still an entry which may interest some people.
All day I’m constantly thinking about topics to write about. I’m also thinking about my client’s designs but that’s a separate issue. My point is that as I’m going about my daily routine I’ll note things that strike me as interesting, or odd, or just weird. I’ll make note of them and then later that night I’ll flesh them out on my blog.
You wouldn’t tell from the constant flow of content that you suffer from writers block. Like Ben I’m always thinking of things that I could blog about, sadly though I forget them and tend not to be very good at turning them into posts. Maybe I should start making a note of them a bit more!
Ben: With the constant thinking of clients designs, welcome to the world of Graphic Design!
hehe. Thanks. I’m REALLY enjoying myself, actually. I love this kind of creative work. It’s very fulfilling in a way that ministry never could be.
I’m always one or two posts ahead of myself. I’ve got a little text document too with notes and ideas of things I want to do someday.
@Ben: You’re not in ministry anymore? Are you doing full time design?
Ben & Phil, I have the same problem as Phil, at the end of the day I can’t seem to remember anything and I can’t write it down due the the work I do.
Shawn, That would be ideal, if I could get ahead of myself. However I am way to impatient if I write anything I want it up here immediately.
Nick: I know that feeling well. If I write something I tend to want it published as soon as it’s finished. Recently though I have been taking my time on the more serious posts and using asides to keep the content flowing. I seem to have 2 or 3 posts half written or nearly finished waiting to be published all the time. Guess that goes back to the finding ithard to put down part!
I guess I should utilize the asides more, I think that would help.
@ Shawn: I’m still in ministry full time. I enjoy it too. But I find that design lets me be more creative.

[...] I don’t really have a lot else to blog about at the moment as I am currently having writers block, similar to Nick over at TCRA. Anyway, I do think that this is relevant because as of late I have been thinking about how good blogging actually is! [...]
