Find a Happy Medium

“It’s more important to be a Christian than to be a conservative or a liberal,” - Darrell Bock
A friend sent me this article today and it got me thinking about faith and politics, should they mix? I used to say yes, without a doubt, if you go back through this blog you will see a great deal of posts on that subject. However, over the past few months I have been changing my mind. I used to think that I am Republican because I am Christian, and I need to shout it from the roof tops. I used to think it went hand in hand, politics and religion, but I am now learning it shouldn’t be that way.
Yes our faith will inevitably direct the way we will vote, there is no getting around that. But I think it is wrong to use religion as a political platform. I know I may get beaten for what I am about to say but, I think James Dobson just might be wrong. We should not be using our faith in Jesus Christ to tell people who to vote for. Christ is our focal point not John McCain or Barack Obama. After all don’t you think Jesus would have gone for more of a theocracy opposed to a democracy?
I guess I think we could just find something of a happy medium. This coming from a guy whose blog name is “The Christian Right America”, who would have thought?
